TASC - Triangle Association for the Science of Creation

TASC endeavors to show Christians and others in the Triangle area that the facts of science are consistent with the Biblical account of origins and inconsistent with the evolutionary worldview.

Atheism Rising: What Can We Do About It?

September, 2018

We are faced with an alarming trend of rising atheism in our youth today. I will address this undesired trend and provide actions that parents, youth , and we as individuals can implement to help decrease this trend. Otherwise, as President Reagan said, “A nation not under God is a nation already gone under.” Let us all please rise to the challenge and reverse this trend.

As believers in God, we must use the talents He has given us to address this challenge in Generation Z (Gen Z), other youth, and adults with the “Go” that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, commanded us in what has been named the “Great Commission,” (Matthew 28:18–20). Our own Triangle Association for the Science of Creation (TASC) mission is centered around the Great Commission: “TASC’s mission is to rebuild and strengthen the foundation of the Christian faith by increasing awareness of the scientific evidence supporting the literal Biblical account of creation and refuting evolution.” I will address this further later in this article as far as outreach in which TASC is involved and how you can be involved to address the above.

A new study reported in the April 2018 American Family Association Journal by the Barna Group has found the following:

Generation Z (those born between 1999 and 2015) have been found to be the least religious in the country’s history, less likely to attend church services, and more likely to see science as superior to the Bible than older generations.

Language: A Sign of Divine Design

July, 2018

Being somewhat of a newcomer to the ongoing scientific discussion in this newsletter, and coming from a nonscientific perspective, I feel a bit like a junior soccer player competing in the World Cup—definitely out of my league. Still, my experience as an English as a Second Language teacher has provided me a unique vantage point from which to observe one of the greatest evidences for God’s creation: Language. I am convinced that the language ability of human beings confirms our identity as creatures made in the image of God. In this article, I would like to share a portion of a paper written for a theology class at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Obviously, this approach will be more theological than scientific, but it still may yield insights that will serve as an apologetic for divine creation.

God of Creation - God of Miracles

June, 2018

As scientific creationists we can, if we are not careful, become focused on our main issue of the historical and scientific accuracy of the Creation / Fall / Flood / Tower of Babel account of Genesis 1-11 to the point that we fail to remember that our greater mission is to uphold the authority of the entire Bible. But our underlying and greatest mission as believers in Jesus is to make disciples as we go into the world. That was the last of all the commands of our Lord Jesus that we are to obey. Our effort to uphold the truth of Genesis is only one important tool that helps Christians to effectively present the gospel as being a reasonable thing for the world to believe by faith. It can enable that world which has been completely cursed by sin and “reconfigured” by paganism, postmodernism, and all sorts of other “isms,” to see that the Bible is true and that it is relevant not only to modern life but ultimately to eternity.

We should always remember that God never changes. Hebrews 13:8 says that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Colossians 1:15 tells us that Jesus is “the image of the invisible God,” meaning that because Jesus is the image of God, what is true of Him as God the Son is also true of God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. There are many other Old and New Testament scriptures that clearly present the immutability of God.
