TASC Meeting

Dan W Reynolds, PhD, will present Part 1 of a two part series entitled Icons of Evolution and Zombie Science.

The series will be the topic of discussion in the May and June meetings. The talks will focus on two books written by Dr. Jonathan Wells: Icons of Evolution and Zombie Science.  Part 1 will focus mainly on Icons. Wells discusses several "icons" or alleged evidences for macroevolution presented in high school and college biology classes such as the Miller-Urey experiments, Darwin's Finches, Peppered Moths, Darwin's Tree of Life, Human Evolution, Haeckel's Embryos, Homology, the Horse Fossil Series, Archaeopteryx, and others. Wells explains why none of these topics support macroevolution. Yet despite the evidence, many of these icons still appear in biology texts. This talk is recommended especially for students being taught evolution.
